Well, if you didn't know already, I have recently added new music to my website and myspace page. I've gotten some really sweet messages about the new songs and I am loving that you are enjoying the tunes! I decided to post a little about the songs so you had a bit of insight on where they began and the stories behind them. :) Hope you enjoy.. thank you so much for listening!

"Here"- Began as a pretty guitar melody that Matthew was playing with. We were both in the studio and he just pulled it out of the air (like he so awesomely always does). He started playing, I began humming and the rest was history. The lyric came so easy, starting with the opening line, "Spinning in circles..", which seemed to fit so well with the music beneath it. Words just kind of kept falling out.. I could barely keep up with them. We laid the vocal down that night after we finished it, which is the vocal you hear in the recording. It took so long for me to share with all of you, because I wanted so badly to record a "real" vocal on it. But after listening to it and trying to recreate the dreamy-romantic feel that had hung in the studio the night we wrote it, I realized the vocal mood was too special. I had to share it the way it was.

"Leave The Keys"- After I finished my Exit Interview on American Idol, I got in the car with my mom and sister (who had flown out for the results taping) and we began to drive away. Stuck in Pasadena traffic, mom and Katie were talking about what had just happened and picking apart the details, consoling me, etc. I faded in and out of the conversation. I was beyond any kind of exhaustion I had ever felt and I thought to myself, "I could just jump out of this car and leave the keys behind me. Leave everything that has happened in the past 6 months behind me." Somehow, though all I wanted to do was move on, I was still stuck! I wanted nothing more than to move forward. The American Idol experience is a long one! I was so ready to just.. start walking.. out of LA and home to Nashville.
Upon returning to Nashville, I was suddenly hit with reality. I hadn't had a job while I was on the show and had to start job searching immediately. What a bummer! That sucked. I got a job at a jewelry store and slowly worked my way back to real life. The store was on the corner of a shopping mall in an upscale suburban area outside of Nashville. The entire front-half of the store was floor-to-ceiling windows. Windows upon windows, all for me to stare out of and dream. It was a frustrating time. All I wanted to do was sing, write, act, etc. and those things didn't pay any money (at the time). Anyway, I'm looking out the window one day feeling.. like I'm working a 9-5 and not singing.. and... who is that I see? A beautiful, tall, curly blonde in a t-shirt and gym shorts. She walks by and smiles. I smile back...

"Hi, Taylor. ....Swift."

I think I slammed my head on the counter in front of me. I knew I had to write a song about it. It was a brutal reminder that I was working at something I had no passion for, and girls like Taylor were doing what we loved and being successful at it, looking at poor girls like me, being thankful they were no longer in that stage of their lives. Ha ha ha. It still makes me laugh. How in-your-face can life be? ha ha. I laughed and laughed afterward. There was nothing left to do. No more tears to cry. I had found peace with everything that had happened and finally understood what gaining great experience can do for a soul. Matt and I penned this and every word came from a true event and true experience.

"I Miss You Tonight"- was written by my Matt Lopez, our friend and Lady Antebellum career-starter Victoria Shaw, and from American Idol Season 8, Matt Giraud (finished 5th last year). I heard it, hung out with Matt and Matt while they recorded the vocal and talked my Matt into "putting a female vocal on it". I sang a few takes, he took the one he liked best a slapped Auto-tune on it. We called it the C-Pain version for a while and still do.
The day Matt wrote it, I listened to the worktape on repeat. I am in love with this song and am certain it will rake in the big bucks in the future. I am so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to put my voice on such a great song.

Penelope the Peony (yes, we named her). I planted her today in Matt's garden (as I live in an apartment and do not have a garden of my own to plant in.)

I love Peonies more than any other flower. I bought myself a plant of Pink Peonies as a birthday present to myself and planted it this afternoon. I was ecstatic to get my fingers in the soil (which I just adore) and plant a pot of my very favorite blooms in the world.

i had a magical day. blu sanders and i got together to shoot and he is fabulous. he's completely unaffected by the "way" to shoot and has such a beautiful style that captures everything ethereal and good that could fit into one photograph. my favorite part about what i do is in the creating (you know that by now, right?). being the subject of a photograph is a rush, because the creation is much like film and music. the photograph is completely manipulated by one look, one emotion. a photographer can either pull out the subject's creativity or block it. being blocked makes for a painful few hours.. but creative energies being shared is so... (sigh) ... empowering.

my creative juices are on overdrive and i'd like to take myself to the craft store right now, buy a new panel of canvas and paint it to my heart's content until sunrise.

i'd also like to say.. that today also came with too much bad news. just too much. remember you are one person who affects many people. you're loved. love somebody and be good to them. be you. no one else can do that better. and forgive. forgive and breathe and love.

Awesome day.

Went in for a fitting for a shoot I booked Thursday.. I've been so busy, when I auditioned for the job, I didn't really do any research into it (I was just happy to have another possible way to pay my rent! ;)..). Today, on the escalator up to the 3rd floor at Genesco's Corporate office, I bashfully asked what exactly this shoot would be used for. My kind escort then informed that these images would be for the new BabyPhat for Prom Footwear ads for catalogs, website promotion, email marketing, and the in-store campaigns for

170 stores
..nationwide.

What?!

How did I miss that?! What a nice surprise. :)

On air-interview with Gerry House, Noshville yummy cheese blintzes with blueberries, easy breezy auditioning... this was my day. And a great one, at that! Very happy to be setting up some exciting things for 2010. I'm so inspired today. Lots of good things are cooking and loads of motivation and excitement have traveled alongside them. Did you see the new shots and videos from my Tuesday shoot on facebook?

I'm digging. Shoot tomorrow should be great. The photographer and makeup artist have some really beautiful ideas. I'm very excited about that as well.

Well, just giving an update. Park City in T-minus 4 days! Remember my blog from last year? Sledding, skiing, snowmobiling, hot tubbing in the snow, fancy parties, delicious dinners, and best of all-- the DW family together again! :) I love those people. I'm so excited. Did I mention I'm excited? :) Title of blog: Excited.

Tonight at the People's Choice Awards, Sandra Bullock gave the best acceptance speech I have ever heard. She is gracious, spirited, humble, funny and seemingly unaffected by her glamorous surroundings. I could go on and on! I'm completely in love with her work, and now with her as a person. Have you read it? I am completely elated when I see a new copy on the stands.

I love this magazine. Women of Nashville, if you aren't reading it, you're missing out. Not only are the articles quick-witted, smart and inspiring, they're about a woman's lifestyle in our favorite place- home! Nashville.. :) ..(sigh)

There is a personal quality to this publication that I've never before experienced in any other women's magazine. These women go through what I go through daily on a local level and I'm reminded of my affinity toward this city with each issue. So many reasons why I love Music City and I feel like each is spotlighted, a few at a time, with every article. It's also amazing to feel a connection with the authors or the characters in it's wildly funny or deeply touching stories. I drive those roads. I frequent those restaurants. "Want to find outfit "x"? Shop here.", "Did you know Nashville offers Aerial Yoga? Well, now you do. Try it. I did...Amazing."

Finally! Something sweet and charming with information I can really use in my life... with articles rich in substance that even rival some of my favorite novels. MmmMM.

Tough Trade and LA la Land

Word! :) I'm stoked. I just booked six days of work on the HBO series Tough Trade. I'll be the stand-in for one of the lead actresses for the series. Basically, a stand-in does the actress's scenes while she is doing hair and makeup so lighting can be adjusted. I'm stoked because I'm getting a little dough to hang out with the cast and crew for six days.. and what better way to learn the ins and outs of the film shooting process? Which I will need, because I'm currently planning a 10-14 day stay in Los Angeles in January! Feeling like it will be the first of many. Cross fingers! I'll update you on that news in another blog.

So, bring it on, 2010! And stay tuned in on Twitter to read my updates of my encounters with the cast and crew of Tough Trade, coming to an HBO screen to you soon. ;)

My Matthew set out this morning looking for a digital HD hand held camera, and I went with him to help. After finding his favorite (I agreed!) he got ready to purchase and spoke to the cashier. He said, "I'd like an orange one.... and a purple one," and looked at me and smiled. I was so surprised and excited! He is the sweetest. We rang up Violet and Pumkpin Head and were off to the "lab" (Matthew's studio in his house) to check out our new toys. So. Here is my first Webbie video blog with so many more to come:

You've Got A Fast Car

This experience with Due West has been nothing short of amazing. If you aren't aware, I'm on the road with them now on their radio tour. Let me be clear in saying that this is no, "Let's just see what happens if we were to try our hand at a radio tour", this is a full-on team effort of so many hard working individuals, all working toward one goal.. telling the nation it's time to "Set their musical compasses Due West". (Thanks, Mike Thomas!)

With every station, and I mean EVERY station, these guys are completely endearing themselves and winning over the hearts of the Jocks behind the mics and the staff that works hard to keep the Jocks behind the mics. "Jocks" (Disc Jockeys) and their programmers tend to be jaded and spin what ever they want to spin. Every single one has said, "this is the best thing I have heard come in to my studio," or "this is the best thing I've heard in ___ years.." And the compliments go on and on.

What a beautiful experience, to watch those you love most making their dreams a reality.

News is the guys just beat out Buckey Covington for "Download or Delete" on WKDF 103 in Nashville. WKDF is one of the largest stations in NASHVILLE, TN. We haven't even toured Nashville, because it's pretty much the biggest and the hardest to get into. We have barely toured Major Market radio. The buzz has gotten around and Due West is catching like hot wildfire.. the Majors are not only hearing about them, they're spinning them. NASHVILLE JADED RADIO is spinning them!! It's incredible. Completely incredible.

I just had to share, because I literally get to be the fly on the wall (I am repping the boys on the secondary market tour for the South and Midwest) on this amazing ride for a few days at a time. And this is the sort of thing that people tell stories about for a hundred years on the back porch and on telephones, in rocking chairs and beauty parlors and in journal entries that become biographies written about something extraordinary. This isn't your average successful radio tour. This is something bigger than we even know. I promise you that.

The Five Love Languages

May I recommend a book to you that might very well change your life, or at least your relationships? "The Five Love Languages" is amazing. While I do believe in life-long commitment, it is natural to look around at healthy, happy marriages and think, "What's the secret?" We all want to know how to make it last, how to be better individuals and how to understand our sweethearts.

I personally feel that there must be more to your game plan than just speaking the right "Love Language" to your significant other for a happily ever after, such as compatibility, selflessness and equal emotional/mental/spiritual maturity. I will agree, however, that there is something beautiful about such an impactful way to communicate, as Dr. Chapman unveils. I believe his book can enrich any relationship and I highly recommend this read to anyone and everyone. Most of all, it is healthiest to understand your own emotions and thought processes, and this might just shed the little bit of light you've been looking for.

Confessions Of The Shopa-Clueless

Okay, although I am a very girly kind of girl, I have a confession: I don't like shopping. I just don't. I like fashion. I like shopping online. But online, I can find exactly what I need in a few clicks.. Feminine and soft or casual and easy going.. In a mall I'm just confused as to who has what and where and do I want light wash jeans? I didn't think I did. But now, here they are in front of me. No, they are on me. Salesman is good.
We're light-wash. We're what you THOUGHT you wanted, only lighter!

That being said, I will remind you this trip to Alabama was to celebrate mommie's birthday. How am I supposed to turn down mother-daughter bonding time? I should maybe add here that after thanking Step Daddy Vic for the extra cash to enjoy the trip with (it was also given due to the fact that I have a birthday in two weeks), I was given a very interesting response..

"Oh, Cardin. I've been seeing you around lately.. And, you need it, okay? Please. Go shopping. You need it."

So. There you go. I needed it. And I went.

Surprisingly.. I found almost all of my things at The Buckle. And spent just about every dime there. MEK Jeans (DARK, thank you very much) look like True Religion-ish, but at least 130 dollars less! YES! And yummy stretchy silky organic cotton T-shirts. Not the ones I thought I'd find, with "ROCK AND ROLL!" screaming across them, but baby pink and yellow, with mint green and grey peacock feathers fanning around the neck. Or just plain, perfect, sexy, simple white. And a very feminine! soft! grassy green with very sweet, very grown up butterflies and chiffon baby cap sleeves. I bought a few long Anthropologie-like knit wraps at NY and Company (also at least 150 dollars less) that should finish the look, but Buckle!! I just love being surprised. Thanks, Buckle. (And I thought you were just a great boy store!)

Radio Tour

Oh, it wasn't mine.. but almost. :) I got to head out on the road with Due West for their first couple of days on Radio Tour. We had so much fun. I must admit, this "Yoko" thing is making some great memories. Here are some photos from the adventures.

It started at Sambuca, when we kicked off the Due West Radio Tour with the Launch Lunch. It was a great time to mingle with the team and friends and listen to some great Due West music.

Then came a two day jaunt across the great state of Tennessee, where the boys played 7 other stations, with raving reviews at each one they stopped at. They were told, "this is the best thing I've seen come through here in two years, hands down." Or "I don't remember being this excited about ANYBODY that has come through here (and everyone has gone through these stations, being as how we're so close to Nashville). This will work. This is going to work." It was so exciting.

And through it all, I can "stand by my man" and experience it in love with my best friend.

I do have to say something about Roberta, Tim's wife. She really is a beautiful example of patience and portrays motherhood in the most humble and graceful way. WE LOVE YOU. Let's be the girls behind the boys for the next.. hundred years... yes? :) I hope so.

.. And that is what the single is about.. knowing the pleasures of the world and still being able to say "No".. because by saying no, you get to have it all.... family.

These boys are amazing people with beautiful hearts and spirits that will surely take them to superstardom within the following year. If my blog became one of "Tales of Due West", I would happily oblige. Because I'm getting a glimpse of something so special. My hair stands on end with every song and every newly scheduled tour date and interview. I'm SO proud of you boys. You deserve the world. Looks like you're about to have it.

...Can't quite say I ever want to see one of these ever again. I understand that hygiene is important, but whoa, nelly. I've been brushing my teeth for four hours straight! Out for a jog, making dinner... even in the shower. Brush. Brush. Brush.

I filmed a commercial today for ... The National Dental Association? Or.. something like that. :) Anyway, my gums may be bleeding, but it was really a lot of fun! Thanks to Wes Edwards, Eric, Amy, Lo, and everyone on the shoot for another great day of work.

Hey, Everything's Right Tonight..

Just got the rough cut of the "Everything's Right"/Matt Wertz Music Video from Director Wes Edwards. Did I tell you I shot that one? I did. Life is so busy (thankfully), so I apologize if you missed the news. Anyway, it's really so great. I'm so excited for everyone to see it.

I haven't been blogging much lately because I have been so crazy busy (as I mentioned), but I promise I love you and am thinking of you all!

Special shout out to everyone at IdolForums.com for STILL being amazing and showing off 164 Pages of "Cardin love". WOW. Thank you so very much. I appreciate and love you more than you know! You rock!

So, after a unique iChat/Webcam audition with a NYC agency and director, and a final taping Wednesday night for the label's approval, I am pleased to announce that I've been cast for the newest Mat Kearney video! Yay! Pay them bills, girl! ;)

It's going to be cool. I'm really excited! There will be tears.. so, somebody say something really mean. Ready, go!

I doubt it's very interesting.. but I'll give it a shot.. Ahem..

# 1... I am really hungry for chips and salsa right now.

2. I bought these scarves in Vegas last year? They are kind of thin and about 2 feet wide and like, 5 1/2 feet long. They are amazingly soft and cuddly and I wrap up the whole top half of my body in them like a mummy.. I feel safe and happy. Mmm.

3. My favorite thing is hanging out with my boyfriend. I think it's the coolest thing about my adult life so far..

4. P.S.- He is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. :)

5. I really love perfumes. And I love wearing dresses. I'm very girly.

6. I remember my dreams every morning when I wake up. Last night I went to Europe.

7. My Grey's Anatomy addiction is almost embarrassing. Almost.

8. I secretly like curse words from certain people. I get so cracked up.

9. I love grammar and spelling.. and I'm not ashamed of it.

10. My favorite t-shirt is a thin Barbie Dance Club shirt from Goodwill that I stole from my sister.

11. I would rather eat Oreos for breakfast than anything else.

12. In lots of ways, I am more reserved than ever.. and really enjoy privacy..

13. ..But that doesn't mean I don't LOVE people..

14. Learning is a great passion I have.

15. It can also be a very hard thing to go through, this "learning" business..

16. White is my new favorite color. It is clean and sleek and sexy and simple.

17. I need Diet Coke every day. I just.. need it.

18. I go around cleaning and organizing when I am stressed or worried.

19. I miss Mickey Mouse ice cream bars and often wonder where did they go?

20. I am pleasantly surprised to find out that I have quite a few "fearless" bones in my body. That's hot!

21. ...but I'm still afraid of the dark. If I forget something in my car at night, I'd rather leave it.

22. I also wish the IHC/2012 advertisement had never shown up on MySpace and in the movie theater trailers. I constantly talk about the fact that I have three years left to live.

23. I want a butterfly tattoo on my neck so I buy the temps to pretend. The permanence scares me.

24. I don't really believe in much of it, but I still read my horoscopes and check every fortune cookie on the table.. just in case.

25. It's so nice to finally meet me. :)

..the best Grey's Anatomy episode of the season so far (Episode 12, "Stairway to Heaven"). Maybe even the best since a season or two before this. Let me just tell you this.. It was so beautiful, I was weeping by the end credits.

It's an Event held during Sundance that is solely dedicated to fancy-shmancy-ness. Here, the top chefs from around the world come together to "dance", if you will. :) They provide four to six courses throughout the evening to a very star-studded room. (To see this room, check out my videos at the top. I qiked the event so you could enjoy it, too! :)...)

Due West opened the party, and in doing so, we A) Got to attend the feast; and B) Were thereafter invited to a private party hosted by the owner that is being held tonight (Tuesday) in honor of his wife. Ben Harper and John Popper (of Blues Traveler) will be there and Due West is invited to come "jam".

I know. Pinch me. Since time is short, I'll just leave you with that message and these photos.

It will be held at the Latta Estate in Deer Valley on Thursday the 22nd, starting at 7:30 pm. Come join us? It will be a pretty big deal. ;)

Sweet Thing

So, in case you're joining us for the first time... :)... or haven't heard yet, I was lucky enough to be cast in the latest Keith Urban video, "Sweet Thing" about a month ago.. I'm making a little cameo performance (mainly in silhouette) in the video.. For my recap of the event, check out the blogs below. :)

The Mustang in the picture(above)is just like Keith's.. which I was jazzed about filming my scenes inside of and around. It was all Keith-like.. with his leather rope necklace hanging from the rearview mirror and his garage door opener that I may or may not have poked at a bit.. :) Very, freaking cool experience..

Anyway! The video is premiering on MySpace tomorrow, January 16th. So be sure to watch Keith's MySpace and see if you can spot me. :)

By the way, have you listened to my new music on MySpace? My most recent track I've released is "Baby Boy" and I have big plans for it. I really hope you like it.

Thursdays are amazing, because I spend all day planning a great dinner that I will happily devour while watching Grey's with Matthew. At least twice a month, I make my homemade quesadillas for us. They are cheesy and spicy and delicious. Mmm. I love Thursdays.

Next up, Sundance!! Did you know the Duchess of York will be attending the festival? Pretty amazing.

And it smells like one, too. I am obsessed.

My lovely Janell got this for me for Christmas. We were in Anthropologie when I first smelled it's sweetness and when I did, I might have freaked out a little. Okay, so I freaked out a lot.

Now, I admit I have a weakness for a mysterious, crystal clear fluid inside pretty, glassy bottles. They beg me to try them out. "TESTER" being one of the most exciting words of the day.. And unfortunately I have been known to be overcome by the temptation of the latest Dolce & Gabbana or Christian Dior when I cross the fragrance counter in department stores and spend all of the cash in my stash for that month. Recently, my trips to the mall are more like:

"keep walking! don't look. don't breathe!" 

Some women have shoe fetishes. Mine is fragrance.

So, I was delighted to find this very affordable, very yummy fragrance that has me officially signed, sealed and delivering it to my front door every few months (I swear) until I may rest in peace.

If I remember correctly, each fragrance is pretty great. However my favorite comes in a little purpley-pinky tube for some on-the-go, roll-on action. I can have the pleasure to catch a whiff of my own hair and smell sweet "Poppy Showers" on an all-day-long, daily basis. Ahhh.. Now that is a wonderful thing.

Your new favorite records..

will be Beyonce's "I Am... Sasha Fierce" and Kenny Chesney's "Lucky Old Sun" as soon as you run to iTunes or Wal-Mart and pick them up. I'm a hard-copy girl myself, so I would really like to encourage the purchase of both records in-store.

I know what you're thinking, Beyonce and Kenny seem to be on two completely opposite sides of the musical spectrum, and neither are sides I was necessarily "crazy" about. I love a lot of country music. I love Chris Brown or Ne-Yo type pop. These two artists weren't really my favorites in even their own categories of the music industry's catalog. In the past, I've listened to both when I'm in the mood and the radio is on that mood's channel. However, I do enjoy musical "research" (as a creator of music, it's important to be influenced by all, and studying up is a daily goal). That very research is the reason I write today. After hearing each artist's first singles, I immediately wanted the records. So, I am here to tell you that these records are leaps and bounds above your average "Pop" and "Country" albums, and that you need to hear them! Both artists have so heavily influenced me in the past few weeks that I can hardly keep control of my mind. I'm singing "Diva" in the shower with "Way Down Here" in my subconscious.

I promise you won't be disappointed. Musically, lyrically, intellectually... both albums are just brilliant.

You know what? I've changed my mind. I'm going to have to make a rule. If you purchase the Kenny record, it must be done in-store so you can take the hard copy home. It's case is made from 100% recycled paperboard, so you can not only feel good about your purchase, but more importantly, you can read the beautifully poetic journal-like entries below each song's title on the inside booklet. I was in tears at times and bursting at the seams at others when reading the thoughts and the inspirations behind each song. He also participates in three duets on the record with Dave Matthews, Mac MacAnally (incredible) and Willie Nelson. It is an insightful, intimate view of the artist whom I ashamedly admit was not much more to me than the "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" guy. I stand corrected. He is an artist at it's best.

Miss Fierce is also bright and shining and has gained a new respect in my eyes. Any one that can make up a word like "bootylicious" and turn it into a universally-used term has got to have some talent for the manipulation of words and their meanings, right? ...Right! Her new record is a two-part product of probably a couple of years in the making and definitely proves the bootylicious-full talent. It is so fresh, I want to dive in it like a new, clean load of laundry just out of the dryer. Pop music is much harder to orchestrate than one would think. I promise. :) So, naturally she is now on a very high pedestal to me. What seems like 808s and drum machines to many is absolute genius to me, because I understand the thought processes and the constant pressure on pop music to be that very word: "fresh". My goodness. The woman (who produced the record, P.S.) has done it. It's sick. Go get it.

Get them both! You have my word. :) You won't regret it!

I'm not a princess, this aint a fairy

tale..

Once upon a time, I was a girl who had just found out her boyfriend was dating another girl at the same exact time that he was dating me. I locked myself in the bathroom. I doubled over crying and weeping against the bathroom door. It could only hold me up for so long. I finally slid down it's slick front until I hit the cold floor beneath me. I sat in that same crumpled position, cursing

 through my tears, hyperventilating with my head in hands.. losing control of my body and thoughts.. 

Don't worry. Although this similar event has unfortunately happened to me in the past, this was only an audition for a part in the new Taylor Swift video, "White Horse". An audition that I literally picked myself up off of the floor from, and

walked out with a new found respect for myself and my work as an artist ( musically or theatrically).

Last night, I received a call from my agent. He was thrilled!

"Cardin! Listen. You got the gig. They are 99.9% sure.. just tying up some loose ends and we'll have the green light. Trey loved you. They couldn't stop talking about how impressed they were with you. This video is going to be huge!! It'll cro

ssover. Pop, country. Whatever. It's huge."

I was so excited about the news! I was in the Hendersonville Wal-Mart parking lot and leapt into Matthew's arms. We partied down the aisles inside. I'm a pretty big Taylor fan myself and was ecstatic to work with her!

This morning, I got a pretty unfortunate phone call. Apparently, working as a "video girl" in Nashville is a little more complicated than one would think. I was the lead in Jimmy

Wayne's "Do You Believe Me Now?" video about a year ago, which in this case (and actually one other case before

this) is "the big bad wolf" to any one hoping for yet another lead role in a video for the same record label. To sum it all up, Jimmy's label is essentially the same as Taylor's and I was un-cast for "White Horse". The record label forced the director, Trey Fanjoy, to go with the second choice.

Pretty unfortunate, right? What a great role I missed out on. May or may not have cried a little. Great song. Great opportunity. I know the video will be killer.. but maybe a little hard to watch now. :) I wish everyone involved the best of luck. I'm bummed. But what do you do? You just get off the cold bathroom floor, hold on to the respect you first

had for yourself... get on your own White Horse.. ride off into the sunset.. and see what tomorrow brings.

...No, not the blonde. I mean the lovely brunette next to her. Do you know her? Her name is

Trey Fanjoy.

..and she is amazing. I worked with her on the Keith Urban shoot a few weeks ago. I'll admit I was intimidated to be working with her at first. Her resume is stunning. But as the shoot went on (and on, and on.. :)..) I noticed a magnetism about her and a very warm side I hadn't looked for or seen thus far.

Well, I met with her again today to audition for the Taylor Swift "White Horse" video. She and I had one-on-one time during the audition, and while she directed the improv scene I was auditioning for, she gave me an example of what she wanted from "the actor" (me, in this case) for the scene. It only lasted about ten seconds, and she had me and herself in tears during the "example". I was blown away. What an inspiring, talented woman!

I hope I can give you good news in a couple of days! If I can't, there's always another opportunity just around the corner. We'll see how it goes. And as "Queeny" states in "Benjamin Button",

"you never know what's comin' fa yuh"

You guys rocked last night!! We had so much fun at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Benefit Concert and it's all thanks to YOU. I was so excited to be a part of such an awesome event and completely flipped when I found out over $4,500 was raised! Incredible!

It was so great to meet all of you. The energy in the audience was so powerful and supportive, and I really have never seen a better Due West show (thank you boys for the invitation, really. love you each.) I think I had a couple of out-of-body experiences during the acoustic set...ha!.. Really! You guys rocked!!! Once again, it's ALL thanks to YOU! We love you!!

Well, I have discovered yet another guilty online pleasure! I didn't know just how much more I could handle in the cyber world until I stumbled upon somthing easy, yet addicting! I tend to get the itch to write a blog when something springs up in the day, but then I'll think it's too small to dedicate an entire blog to, so I opt out. Safford, AZ Benefit Concert

Well, here we are just a week before Christmas and I am so excited to have the opportunity to participate in an event that could only promote the spirit of the holiday season. It will be held in Safford, Arizona, this Wednesday, December 17 th for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Due West has asked me to help them out a little and perform a few songs that night at the benefit concert, and I couldn't be more honored to contribute in what small part I may.. :)

Safford, here we come! I can't wait! For info about the DW show that I'm crashin'.. :) ..., go to the Eastern Arizona Courier and read up!

Just had an awesome performance for a Christmas presentation out in Franklin, TN. We (DW, Jason Deere and I) performed "The Virgin's Lullaby", written by Jason and the lovely Victoria Shaw. It was on "The Nativity Story" soundtrack, and was SO cool to recreate. DW sang the Three Kings role, Jason the Shepherd, and I, the Virgin Mary. It was an honor to be a part of. Thanks, guys, for an awesome evening!

Rain, Rain, Go Away..

Well we have some updating to do, I guess. :)

First of all, I hope you know that if you have sent me well wishes on myspace, facebook, blogger, etc. for the Keith video, please know how appreciative I am of you. I took your good vibes with me to the shoot and held on for dear life! As much as I would love to give you a juicy story about Keith and our lovely conversation or an amazing day working, I can't do that. Because, well, it would be a lie. :) See, yesterday's shoot was full of... rain. Tons of rain.. and then some more rain.

After arriving on the set at 7am (after driving an hour to the location), I found myself sitting in a trailor, rain pounding the roof. The rain pounded the roof for TWELVE HOURS. So, to make an extremely long story short, I will just tell you that it was a bit of a more stressful day than planned. Keith had to catch a flight, so he shot quickly (about 3 hours) and went home. My story line had to be changed, because of the rain and because of the sun setting at 4 in the afternoon. To be honest, when you see the video, you may not even be able to tell it's me. Because of the dark, we did the shots against a backlight, so a nice silhoutte will be just about all I'll be. :) I DID sit in Keith's car that was given to him as a gift from his wife, Nicole, and played with his garage door opener a bit while waiting for the "rolling....action!" to begin. :) It was a very beautiful car (an old, gorgeous black mustang) and I feel like the few shots we did will be nice. :)

I must say, I am definitely looking forward to doing my OWN music videos, where I have creative freedom and maybe more of a say so when it comes down to 12 hour video shoots and kissing random strangers. :) I am an extremely lucky girl, however, and I definitely realize it!! :) It was still such a great opportunity! Trey Fanjoy directed the video, and she really is such a gem. I felt very lucky to work with such a huge talent. She must be one of the most sought-out directors in country music videos today. It was really and honor. I am also extremely lucky to have had my lovely boyfriend cheer me up and get my energy going when I was tired, and drive out of his way to sit with me and buy my lunch and make me laugh. He did the same during Hollywood week back during AI last year. Drove 6 hours to LA to be by me, take me to a movie, get me back to being "me". He really is my greatest support system. :)

The video will be awesome, I am sure. The other actors I met during the audition that were cast for the other lead character roles were so talented. I am excited to see it all put together!

Thanks for keeping up with me! The new EP is coming and I can hardly stand it.

My, oh my! How life can change so quickly. Within DAYS I have received news that Matthew has writing credit on a 2X Grammy Nominated record, which is SO HUGE, and that I landed one of the roles for the new Keith Urban "Sweet Thing" Video!!!

What an eventful two days!!!!! It's just so exciting!

I have been cooking and baking all day! No, it's not Thanksgiving, yet. I realize this. Today was all about comfort foods and getting geared up for the holidays. I cooked my momma's chicken and dumplings and my very special pumpkin pie. Two of them, actually. FAB, by the way. It got me in the Christmas spirit, no doubt.

Well, that and the fact that I spent an hour at Target in the same two aisles winding and winding singing snow globes and watching their flurries wreak peaceful havoc on their inhabitants. ahh. Bliss. I get to spend the holidays in Wyoming this year with Matthew's family. It is going to be amazing. I AM supposed to plan an activity for one of the nights we will be there. Scavenger hunt and night-time softball (special glowy bat and ball included) are taken.

Any ideas? I need some.

We're finishing up some of the sides for the EP. They sound yummy. Like my pies. :)

I am so excited to keep you guys updated on things about the upcoming music and events, and even keeping you updated on the more random events going on in my life. My musing could be entertaining?
